Sausage and Kraut

- Slice thinly and saute a couple of onions
- Peel, core & slice an apple or two.
- drain a bag or two of sauerkraut (or can) and rinse
- boil some fresh Polish sausage until done (I sometimes use a
combination of fresh & smoked)
- wash & cut up potatoes into chunks, boil until almost done
- dry white wine

Mix 1st 3 ingredients and place 1/2 in oven proof dish with a lid.
Place sausage & potatoes on top of layer, sprinkle with peppercorns
and add a bay leaf. Add a pinch ot two of allspice.
Place rest of sauerkraut mix on top, add another bay leaf , allspice &
peppercorns.
Pour wine over everything until it is up about 1/2 - 2/3 of the side
of the contents.

Cover and bake at 350 for 3 or 4 hours, or until the guys cant stand
waiting anymore. It can be baked longer with no problem, as long as
it doesnt dry out. Sausage should be melt in the mouth tender. It
is even better in subsequent days, so make a lot!
